Slingo Deal or No Deal

Just when you think you’ve seen every possible Deal or No Deal permutation possible, along comes Slingo Deal or No Deal, a concept which genre mashes like it was a dubstep remix reinvented in a reggae style with a dash of Johnny Cash on the side. That’s a lot to take in, but the actual reality of Slingo Deal or No Deal isn’t nearly as complex as it might initially sound. Basically this is bingo with a badge on. It’s not as bad as it sounds, though whether slingo takes off and becomes more than just a niche game remains to be seen.

It’s got a few things in its favour, like the fact that it’s a mobile-compatible game and is easy to pick up, especially if you’ve previous experience of playing bingo. 75-ball bingo is the starting point here. This is a game which takes that concept and freshens it up with a few features involving banker’s offers and suchlike. You’ve seen Deal or No Deal, right? So yeah, that basically. It’s a TV show which has already been developed in video slot and scratch card format. From there it’s a short step to being able to offer it as slingo.

Steal a Deal

When Slingo Deal or No Deal loads, you’ll find yourself staring at a standard 5x5 grid, each containing a number, only here those numbers have been printed onto the banker’s famous red boxes. There’s a glowing green button to the bottom right of the screen that reads Start Game, and you should probably hit that button in a moment, but first you ought to set your bet level. After all, there’s a big difference between wagering $1 and $100 dollars per game. If you don’t have the bankroll to cover a few losses in succession, go for a few $100 games in a row and you’re gonna have a bad time.

Don’t think that dollars are your default currency by the way; Slingo Deal or No Deal should work on whatever currency or coins you’re accustomed to. When you’ve set the max bet, you aren’t shown precise win values in the paytable which is displayed onscreen. Instead, the possible prizes are displayed as multipliers once you reach 5 lines or more, which supplies a 2x multiplier. By the time you reach full house, that’s grown to become a 20x multiplier. All the while, a blue column to the left of the reels and a red column to the right keeps flipping over like an airline departure board displaying changing dollar values. It’s probably supposed to be cool and immersive but it’s just annoying and distracting.

A Total Banker

When you’ve set your bet and are ready to get started, after pushing that glowing green button, the first thing that will happen is a box will be super-imposed over the main screen asking you to pick your lucky box. A box within a box within a box if you will. Pick a numbered box and the number will flip over to reveal a question mark, all mysterious like. At this stage, a countdown timer commences and an information box above the screen reveals that the banker’s offer will unlock at four slingos. Slingo is a word incidentally that gets more annoying the more you see it.

Once you’ve selected your mystery box, hit spin and you’ll be ready to start opening some of these boxes and finding out what on earth lies inside. It’s red stars it turns out, that’s all. This seems kinda disappointing, but it’s worth noting that the more of these you reveal, the closer you’ll be to completing a single line, and from there it’s a short hop and a skip to complete multiple lines. Each time you hit Spin, more red balls will be drawn from the chute to the right of the reels and deposited below the board. Sometimes there’ll be special symbols though like jokers which enable you to tick off a number of your choice and expedite your progress.

Slingo Deal or No Deal in Summary

Slingo Deal or No Deal is a game that you’ll probably love if you already love Deal or No Deal in some capacity. And if you don’t it’s a game you’ll hate. It’s arguably more fun than some of the other Deal or No Deal games doing the rounds out there, like the scratch card or the numerous slots, but it’s still not great. The soundtrack is particularly annoying, but hey, that’s what the mute button was invented for. Whether Slingo Deal or No Deal is preferable to regular bingo is something for punters to decide as they get a chance to try this game. It’s certainly got more going on in it, that’s for sure.
