Opening up new options
People will be now able to bet on the outcomes of individual shots during LIV Golf events. Simplebet is releasing these markets in time for the LIV Golf Chicago tournament that begins on Friday. The event at Rich Harvest Farms will feature 48 golfers and will be the first time that these bet types will be available for LIV Golf action.
Hard Rock Bet will initially be the only sportsbook platform to offer these types of markets.
Hard Rock Bet will initially be the only sportsbook platform to offer these markets. Some of the new wagering options include betting on the score that they think a player will achieve on a given hole, if they will hit the fairway with their tee shot, or if they will reach the green off the tee when playing a par 3.
A big player in the micro-betting space
Simplebet originally partnered with LIV Golf in July, coming on board as an Official Sports Betting Innovation Partner. In addition to developing micro-betting markets, it also will be providing single-screen in-play betting technology and low-latency video streaming of tournament action.
Talking about these micro-betting markets now becoming available, Simplebet CEO Chris Bevilacqua said that the launch on Friday is a massive accomplishment for his team as they “spent countless hours working to create the optimal product for LIV Golf’s fans across the country and throughout the world.”
Simplebet also has created micro-betting products for MLB, NBA, NFL, college basketball, and college football for operators like Caesars, Hard Rock Bet, bet365, and DraftKings. Its goal is to enable sportsbook operators, technology firms, and media companies to enhance the viewing experience of live sports.
The rise of LIV Golf
PGA Tour micro-betting markets are already available through BetRivers, FanDuel, and DraftKings sportsbooks. LIV Golf started as a rival to other major professional golf tours before it was announced in June that the PGA Tour and LIV Golf would merge.
bring a different type of viewing experience to fans
The idea behind the upstart LIV Golf tour is to bring a different type of viewing experience to fans. It has more team-based events with fewer tournament days and regularly switches up the formats of the tournaments. Some of the golfers that play on the LIV Golf tour include five-time Major champion Brooks Koepka, World Golf Hall of Famer Phil Mickelson, and 2020 US Open winner Bryson DeChambeau.
