German Police Raid Sportsbook Operator Over Alleged Links to Organized Crime

The culmination of a long-running investigation into the online and retail betting operator, police in Germany raided numerous properties associated with the Tipster sports betting company. The company is believed to have links to organized crime, money laundering, and tax evasion.

More than 900 police officers took part in the raids on Thursday which spanned numerous German states, as well as Malta and Croatia. North-Rhine Westphalia Police executed more than 100 search warrants and arrested six people. The individuals are reportedly all Tipster executives.

Tipster.de has been catering to German bettors since 2010, holding a license to operate in the country. Its parent company is based in Malta and operates a couple of other brands. The specifics of the alleged illegal activity are not yet publicly known.
