Cordish intends to redevelop the property into one of its Live! casino resort and entertainment destinations. The casino will become the first land-based casino in the Louisiana, as the casino riverboat is no longer required. In a news release, president of Cordish Gaming Group, Rob Norton, pointed to the “success of Texas Live!” as “giving his brand the confidence to expand across the region.”

The other party mentioned in the deal was Robinsonville, Mississippi casino entertainment company Foundation Gaming Group. The Louisiana Gaming Commission (LGC) approved the sale of Diamond Jacks to Foundation in December, as the firm was also on a southern expansion drive.
