Dealers will live-stream from Southfield

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has given Evolution the go-ahead to offer live dealer online casino games in the state. The MGCB announced on July 21 that it had authorized the leading B2B live casino game provider to live-stream, via licensed operators and platform providers, the first such games in Michigan starting 10am on July 22.

Michiganders will interact with live dealers as they initially play blackjack, baccarat, and roulette, with more games slated for the future. The dealers will live-stream from a studio in the Oakland County city of Southfield.

Operators and platform providers hosting the games include major players BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, Penn Interactive/Barstool, and William Hill, with Golden Nugget, Rush Street, the Stars Group, TwinSpires/Bet America, and Wynn also on the roster.

The MCGB said in an official release that the authorized providers will announce when the live dealer games are available to play.

New experience for Michigan gamblers

Evolution got the nod from the MGCB after being found in compliance with Michigan internet gaming regulatory criteria, and also after staff from the state gaming body had conducted an onsite review.

The MGCB’s executive director Henry Williams said in the news release that Michigan residents can use their mobile devices or computers to play the introductory selection of digital versions of popular land-based casino games.

“Cameras capture the dealer and the play, and the providers’ apps or websites share it live with remote players,” Williams added.

For Michigan’s gamblers, Evolution’s maiden live dealer market penetration in the state offers an alternative experience to the traditional brick-and-mortar table games.

Move follows Evolution’s Canada expansion

Evolution’s entry into Michigan follows a March 2021 deal to supply live casino games to Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) and the Canadian Bank Note Company (CBN) lottery operations in Canada.

Evolution took to Twitter in March to announce that the AGLC had gone live with its casino offerings through the online PlayAlberta platform:

The Latvia-headquartered provider had previously struck a similar deal with both the Loto-Quebec and the British Columbia Lottery Corporation in Canada, with live dealers streaming from a studio in Vancouver.
